Microsoft Research TouchDevelop Application Builder

Today, in addition to completing your Yearbook Project, you will be required to sign up for an account (USE YOUR CAA GMAIL ADDRESS ONLY) on the Microsoft TouchDevelop Website.

Use the link below to create your student account:

TouchDevelop.Com (CS CLASS I Sign Up Link)

Once you have created your account, please verify the account in your Gmail and proceed to the HUB!  This is where you will begin to learn how to read and write CODE!

Step 1 - Set Your Experience Level:

Click on the box marked Experience Level (right side of HUB screen) and choose BEGINNER

Step 2 - Begin Work:

Click on the "First Steps With Turtle" tutorial and follow all instructions to get the turtle to draw a box.  You will need to add lines of code, making sure to read directions, and use a "button-style" interface to load your commands on each line.  You can use the + sign to add lines of code.

Step 3 - Work on other tutorials on your own.  The first 10 students at Crossroads@Meade to complete all 10 tutorials will receive an invitation to a PIZZA PARTY to be held after they have successfully completed the work.

Bear in mind, you are only going to be graded on signing up for this program and completing the First Steps With Turtle Tutorial.  No other work is required.  If you like this program, send me an email and tell me what you liked about it.  While you progress through the program, you will be able to write those lines of code and move away from the visual-based "blockley" programming, into a more syntax (words) based code.  This is an important transformation!  Eventually you can create games and applications, and you can also move on to more intricate forms of code!

Good Luck!
